Rooftop Smokehouse started out, like all good things, with friends, excess off booze and an empty wine barrel, on a Sant Antoni Rooftop. After the first delivery of a ton of oak was dumped on the door step of our building, we set about smoking everything we can get our hands on - focussing on local and seasonal ingredients that had provenance and heritage. We quickly outgrew our domestic set-up and moved to Fabrica Lehmann, where we converted an old red brick smoke stack dating back to the 1850s into Rooftops’ new HQ.
Here we smoke, ferment, pickle, cure, and experiment with ethically sourced produce from like-minded projects. We personally visit our farmer, fisherman and gardener, working closely with them as the seasons change.

Forging strong relationships with suppliers trusted for the quality and authenticity of their produce is everything to us. We contact farmers and local growers personally, hang out and eat with them and they with us. Our meat comes from happy animals at Cal Rovira, our fish is local and line caught, organic vegetables direct from near producers.
Once back at the Rooftop Smokehouse, our speciality is to smoke, cure, pickle and ferment. Everything is homemade at the centre of Barcelona.

Each month we host informal lunches and dinners at the Rooftop Smokehouse, giving you the perfect opportunity to come see what we do.
Changing our menu with the seasons, you get to try our latest smoky experiments and enjoy your night in our beautiful Eixample patio. We’d love to see you round our table.

WILD FERMENTATION WORKSHOP: KRAUT, KIMCHI & HOMEMADE YOGHURT
Our wild fermentation workshop is practical hands on and fun.
You will learn the basic techniques of fermentation and its benefits, making your own sauerkraut and viili.
Next, we will teach you the basics of our kimchi and garum.
Finally, you will take home two fermentors to continue applying what you have learned.
The duration of the workshop is about 3 hours and includes a tasting* at the end.

FLORENTINE KITCHEN KNIVES & ROOFTOP SMOKEHOUSE WORKSHOP

A real treat to have the talented Florentine Kitchen Knives in the house.
Bring your own knife to the workshop and Tomer from Florentine will be on hand teaching you how to sharpen your blades using traditional japanese stones.
You will learn the skills to enhance the performance and prolong the use of your knives at home.
In this hands on workshop you're next going to learn how to:
Fillet, Cure and Smoke your own mackerel, witch you can take home.
Then we will teach you how to slice up fresh cucumbers (using a ridiculously sharp knife) and transform them into kosher dill pickles.
At the end we gather around the table and get stuck in to the smoky, pickaly treats we made and wash it down with cold beer.
Remember There will be an opportunity to buy a japanese sharpening stone to continue practising your new blade honing skills what you have learned
